The chairman of the peace monitoring body, Desta Abiche, said during a CTSAMM meeting in Juba on Friday that the woman later died of injuries disclosing that the police later on succeeded in arresting the suspect.

“The second violation involved the rape of a woman in the Gumbo area of Juba who later died of her injuries,” the statement said.

“It is commendable that the Police were able to arrest and detain the perpetrators of this crime, and that the appropriate legal action is being taken. This violation is attributable to the SSPDF,” he added.

Abiche further “recommended that the SSPDF take all necessary action to enforce discipline, and educate all their personnel about SGBV and the consequences of committing any violent acts against civilians.”
