July 6, 2021 — South Sudan’s incumbent, Salva Kiir Mayardit has today joined a Chinese-led world leaders virtual conference that was organized by the Communist Party of China under the theme: “for the people’s wellbeing, the responsibility of political parties. ”
According to the statement issued by the Presidential unit, President Salva Kiir Mayardit was among the selected 21 global leaders who participated in the summit representing South Sudan’s ruling party, SPLM and the entire Eastern African region.
” This nomination and invitation of H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit came as the result of recognition from CPC leaders due to the strong ties between SPLM and CPC” statement reads.
Speaking during the summit, Kiir commended his Chinese Counterpart President Xi Jinping, the people and Government of China on the occasion of 100 year anniversary of founding and establishment of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
He expressed his satisfaction on the friendly bilateral relations between South Sudan and China, and pledged the assurance of the SPLM’s commitment to continue working closely with CPC to improve cooperation in the highest levels.
President Kiir also encouraged mutual support, exchanges of experiences and coordination between SPLM and CPC, the CPC and Eastern African political parties, as well as with Africa at large.
The government of China and Communist Party of China has a historical and revolutionary tie.
According to president Kiir, Chinese Communist Party supported the SPLM/SPLA during the Liberation struggle against Islamic led regime of Late. Jafer Nimeri and Sudanese long time ruler Omer al-Bashir.
