According to president Museveni, a bomb blast in Kwata zone of Komamboga was brought to his attention confirming that one person has died and five others sustained injuries.

“I have been briefed on the bomb incident in Kwata zone, Komamboga. The Information I have is that 3 people came and left a package in kaveera which later on exploded, killing 1 person and injuring 5 others.  It seems to be a terrorist act but we shall get the perpetrators.” President Museveni alleged.

While responding to socialites on twitter, one of the social media platforms he has been restricting, the Ugandan old man urged citizens not to be worried saying the police specialists were on the ground and the perpetrators will be brought to book.

Although hardly confirmed by independent sources, President Museveni is blaming terrorist networks for the incident; however, he said they will be defeated..

President Museveni’s announcement came just a week after the United Kingdom warned citizens not to travel to Uganda on charges of possible terrorists attacks in Uganda, saying “terrorists are very likely to carry out attacks in Uganda,”  and such attacks could be “indiscriminate, including in places visited by foreigners.”

The incident reportedly happened in a restaurant and three people, who disguised as customers entered and later left unattended bag under the table with the explosive.

The explosive is believed to have killed a 20 year old waitress and left five more people injured.

According to BBC report, the Islamic State group (IS) later said it was behind the attack.
