November 12,2021—South Sudan High-Level Delegation, who travelled to Dohar, Qatar last Saturday, ahead of president’s Kiir, is reportedly being quarantined after some members tested positive upon arrival in the gulf nation.
Among those who are reported to have tested positive is the South Sudan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Mayik Ayik Deng and other advance team members that are yet to be disclosed.
According to a media report released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Manyik tested positive but he is in a stable condition assuring the public that there is no need to panic.
” This is to assure the public that there is no cause for alarm since the Minister is in good health and self-isolation. The rest of the delegates are also self-isolating as contacts in the hotel” part of a statement seen by our editorial team reads.
The Ministry reiterated that the high-level delegation remains in isolation as some of the results are still being waited.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation would like to update the public regarding Covid-19 test involving members of advance team who traveled to Doha ahead of the visit of the President of the Republic”, the statement seen by Nyamilepedia reads.
According to the statement, the test result came on Monday morning and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation was confirmed positive, adding that “as of now the minister remains asymptotic”.
” Today morning another confirmatory test was conducted on all members of the delegation and they are still waiting for results now ” the statement added.
Two days ago, President Kiir adjourned his state visit to Qatar until further notice due to health conditions of his advance team in Doha.
It is yet to be verified if the officials were tested in Juba before traveling; however, South Sudan is one of the countries that takes COVID-19 less slightly.
The South Sudanese high-level delegation comprises of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Finance and Planning, Minister of Investment, Roads and Bridges, Minister of Higher Education, Minister of Agriculture, Governor of Central Bank, Managing Director of the State Oil Firm, Nilepet and Secretary General of the Islamic Affairs, among others.
