According to its executive director, CPA is deeply concerned that the Islamic State claimed responsibility for a bomb attack that killed at least one person in Uganda’s capital Kampala on Saturday night.

Speaking to Nyamilepedia from Mombasa, Kenya, the Executive Director of CPA, Ter Manyang Gatweh, said the incident coincided with a workshop the civil society organizations are attending on the same subject in Mombasa, Kenya.

“CPA participated in the IGAD Centre of Excellence for Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism on capacity building workshop of none- states actors in PCVE  in Mombasa, Kenya from 19th -22nd, 2021 on the role of civil society in  Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism and radicalization that lead to Terrorism in the Horn and East Africa.” Ter said.

The CPA director urges “South Sudan Government to be alerted on terrorists in the country.  CPA believes that they use vulnerability and weak security systems for them to enter to South Sudan border “

Ter said, the CPA established that South Sudan is a weak target of violence extremisms and therefore they recommend that the government should install stronger security measures to mitigate terrorism in the country.

“CPA recommends Prevention programming to the South Sudanese government – programs that seek to reduce the appeal of violent extremism and build resilience to its influence and spread.” CPA said.
