Minister of Roads and Bridges meets President, discussed progress of Road projects.

April 6, 2022 — South Sudan’s Minister of Roads and Bridges, Hon. Simon Mijok Mijak, met President Salva Kiir Mayardit in his office to brief him on the projects of Roads and Bridges across the country.

According to Presidential Press Unit, Hon. Mijak paid the courtesy call to the office of the president on Monday, 4th April 2022, to update the president on the progress his ministry has made and intend to make in the coming months.

“.. His Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic was briefed in his office by the Minister of Roads and Bridges Hon. Simon Mijok Mijak on progress of the ongoing projects of Roads and Bridges across the Country”, the statement by Presidential Unit reads.

According to the statement, Mijak ascertained the president on the completion of the Freedom Bridge, adding that its official launching shall take place next month.

“.. H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit was informed by Hon. Simon Mijok Mijak that the construction of Freedom Bridge has been completed and ready for opening in May next month”, Minister of Roads and Bridges told President Kiir on Monday.

Kiir appreciated the completion of the project, saying it would ease the movements of trucks carrying goods to different parts of the country.

Mr. Mijak briefed President Kiir also about his recent state-visit to the United Arab Emirates where he met senior investors whom he said are ” ready to support the country in connecting roads at State levels.

“.. Hon. Simon Mijok Mijak also briefed H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit on his recent visit to Dubai where he met with the investors who are ready to supply equipment for the establishment of branches of road authorities at the States levels”, Mijak said according to the Presidential Press Unit.
