Appeal for the urgent dismissal of Mr. James Deng Wal Achien, the Chief Executive Director in the Office of President

A Joint Open Letter from the Concerned Youth of Ten States and Three Administrative Areas to H.E President Salva Kiir Mayardit,

Dec 3, 2020(Nyamilepedia) — Your Excellency, the 13 Representatives of the concerned Youths of ten states and three administrative areas of South Sudan would like to seize this opportunity to congratulate you on winning the peace medal from Global Peace Without Borders Organization. The 13 Representatives of the Concerned Youths of Ten States and three administrative areas also appreciate you for bringing a just and permanent peace to the sisterly Republic of Sudan. As the saying goes ” blessed are those who make peace”, Your Excellency, the Comprehensive Peace Agreement of 2005, the Juba Declaration of 2006, the Compromised Peace Agreement of 2015, The Revitalized Peace Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South, 2018 and Juba Peace Agreement ( Sudan) of 2020 and your continuous grant of amnesty to renegades and militias have already secured for you a special place in the hearts of the citizens and of the world as well as in heaven.

Your Excellency, We the 13 Representatives of the Concerned Youth of ten States and Three administrative states would like to bring into your attention the thousands of enemies which your Executive Director Mr. Deng Wal Achien has attracted to you as a result of his corrupt, discriminative, tribal and sectional policies. The concerned youths of ten States and three administrative areas of South Sudan are requesting you to urgently relieve Mr. James Deng Wal from his position as an Executive Director in the office of President in order to rescue the highest office from losing it’s mighty image and character of being the highest office of the land. The concerned youths of South Sudan have made a situational analysis on the general weaknesses of Mr. Deng Wal Achien and on the negative impacts caused by such weaknesses on the office of president which is the highest office in the country. Therefore, the 13 Representatives on behalf of the concerned youths of ten states and three administrative areas of South Sudan have eventually decided to pen this joint open letter, calling for the urgent dismissal of Mr. Deng Wal, the Executive Director in the office of President due to the following justifications.

1. Corruption

Your Excellency, The Executive Director in the office of President Mr. James Deng Wal has privatized and diverted the presidency’s funds to satisfaction of his personal goals and ambitions. For example, he has approved millions of dollars to his relatives, personal friends and political godfathers under the pretext of medical assistance while leaving the real sick staff in the presidency and those on the streets to die of treatable diseases. Mr. James Deng Wal has been distributing luxurious cars to those who have access to the first lady and president as bribery and to his girlfriends as a gift. Not only that, your executive director Deng Wal has opened the office of president only to his defenders especially those who have access to the first lady and to his girlfriends, relatives and good boys. Citizens of South Sudan who have no links with Deng Wal Achien are usually prevented from entering into the office at the gate of the office of President on the orders of Deng Wal. Your Excellency, is the office of president for the defenders, relatives,  good boys and girlfriends of Deng Wal only?. We know that the Office of the President is a public office and any South Sudanese who has a mission is entitled to access the office of president. Recently, there was a certain group from one of the communities in Gogrial (Awan Chan community youth) who unearthed Mr Wal’s dark business but he immediately rushed in and bribed them with a large sum of money as a kind of appeasement and convinced them to cease from exposing his corruption which they did as he requested since they were just after money which is quite different with our case.

2. Academic incompetence and incapability to run the Office of President

Your Excellency, Mr.. Deng Wal Achien is lacking academic credentials to hold the position of the Chief Executive Director in the office of President. Your Excellency, Mr. Deng Wal is holding a fake degree which doesn’t qualify him to hold such a position. The position of Chief Executive Director in the office of President is supposed to be held by a master degree holder or PHD holder.  As you are aware of the thousands of master degree or PHD graduates who are loitering around the streets of Juba without jobs, we the representatives of the concerned youths of ten states and three administrative areas of South Sudan are kindly urging you to dismiss Deng Wal Achien and replace him with any one of master degree or PHD graduate. 

3. Nepotism and Favouritism.

Your Excellency, The Executive Director in the Office of the President Mr. Deng Wal Achien has employed many illiterate and unqualified people as staff in the office of President on the basis of blood relationship, friendship and recommendation from his political defenders or those with access to the first lady without taking into the account the academic qualifications and other merits. Many of those whom Deng Wal Achien has recruited into the office of president are illiterate or semi illiterate and are either his relatives, good boys, girlfriends or those recommended by his political godfathers. Your Excellency, when the Vice Chancellor of Juba University John Akec decided to close the university gate for any students who have not cleared the university tuition fees, hundreds of vulnerable students from poor families are blocked from attending the lectures as a result of the administration policy. However, the Executive Director in the Office of President Mr. Deng Wal Achien intervened and paid over hundred thousands United States Dollars as a tuition fees for 50 students from his area of Korok Achien. Many of the students whose tuition fees were paid using the state money by Mr. Deng Wal are from rich families. The most vulnerable and unhelp students from other areas of South Sudan at University of Juba recently visited his office seeking financial assistance to cover the most paid tuition fees. But Mr. Deng Wal outrightly frustrated them with the infamous quote that ” university education is not for poor people’s children” and therefore he told the students that the presidency can’t bother to help them if they don’t help themselves.  Your Excellency we the concerned youth of South Sudan as well as the vulnerable Juba University students whose tuition fees weren’t paid by Mr. Deng Wal, do condemn in the strongest term possible the selective and discriminative policy applied by the Executive Director by paying the tuition fees of students from his area ( Korok Achien) while excluding the vulnerable students from other states. Your Excellency, is the presidency’s money for Mr. Deng Wal and students from his area?.  Hundreds of students from poor families are not attending the lectures at Juba University due to lack of money for tuition fees. Are those students from poor families not citizens of South Sudan? Why are they not having such privileges from the Office of President?

In another related development,  not only Mr. Deng Wal alone who is engaged in malpractices, there are some other wrong elements in the presidency who are also negatively degrading  your highest integrity and dignity. We the  representatives of ten states and three administrative areas would like to bring to your attention the activities of your bodyguard Akol Santo Arech and waiter Goc Akot Atem. The concerned youth noted with concern that these two gentlemen have turned themselves into politicians and billionaires and preach themselves as important men in the country. For instance, Akol Santo Arech has conducted an expensive wedding ever held in the country with over 100 V8s, three Jeeps and two bullet proof vehicles. Akol Santo Arech is claiming himself as a son of the President and that is why he conducted such an expensive wedding. Akol Santo is using your good name to exploit the business people in the country. Recently, he received over three millions dollars from Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel. Whereas Mr. Goc Akot Atem has exposed himself as presidential waiter to the public which is dangerous to your personal security. Akol Santo fraudly collects some huge amount of money from politicians and business people who are seeking appointment with the president. Akol Santo usually snaps photos with expensive buildings and cars behind him with the caption ” enjoying my sweat” which begs so many questions in the mind of suffering South Sudanese on which sweat he is enjoying. Mr. Goc Akot Atem purchased almost a quarter of Juba City with a luxurious building. He is in negotiations with many other hotel owners for the purpose of buying those hotels. Goc claimed to be a philanthropist by distributing over 50 mostly V8s and premios to his Awan Pajok’s boys and his girlfriends. He always donates over SSP 10 millions in every occasion where he is invited as a guest of honour with a title” presidential waiter”. 

Your Excellency, we the concern youth urge for quick disciplinary of these gentlemen for your safety and security as well as protection of your high clandestine secrecies.

In conclusion, we the representatives of the concerned youth of ten states and three administrative areas of South Sudan do here recommend the removal of the Executive Director in the Office of President . Your Excellency, there is no need to accommodate the deadwood in your office. It is better to accommodate someone who attracts friends to you then enemies. Mr. Deng Wal Achien is attracting millions of enemies to you then friends. Your Excellency, we the representatives of the concerned youth of ten states and three administrative areas do here recommend the appointment of any master degree or PHD graduate to replace this academic dwarf Mr. Deng Wal Achien as an Executive Director in the office of the President.
