Feb 19, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —- This week, a lot of stuff are happening in the neighborhood, Uganda election results will be out by Saturday. Internet was shut down, citizens and public opinion agree that the election is already rigged, that the incumbent Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is returning to power after running the nation for more than 25 years. A move observed to have a great effect for south Sudan situation.
Also this week, government armed forces stormed the Protection of Civilians (PoC) in Malakal, killed dozens and burned down tukuls of the vulnerable victims of south Sudan political crisis that sought protection inside UNMISS camp since the current war broke out. The government remains silence over the incident rather focus on withdrawing the forces outside the capital city as agreed in peace process implementation in a move to overshadow Malakal incident.
In this same very interesting week, the leader of South Sudan Resistance Movement or Army (SSRM/A) Brig. Lul Ruai Koang – former SPLM/A-IO Military Spokesperson – is disowned by his forces and the politicians in his Movement. SSRM/A spokesperson Thoknaath Koak, in the camp opposing Lul, released official statement this Friday morning saying Brig. Lul Ruai escaped to Nairobi Kenya with cash money, leaving people speculating that he has no interest to return to South Sudan capital, Juba.
Brig. Lul’s small forces accused him of mismanaging the Movement. Lul defected to the Government that supervised his forces monitored his moment inside and outside Juba.
“The entire leadership of SSRM/A is hereby informing the Lou Nuer people and the South Sudanese globally that Brig. Lul Ruai Kong is no longer our leader and we are no longer with him,” stated Thoknaath Koak, SSRM/A spokesperson.
Brig. Lul Ruai Kong broke away from SPLM/A-IO led by the leader of SPLM in Opposition Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon who is also First Vice President of the Republic of South in the TGoNU yet to be formed as per arrangement of the IGAD-Plus mediated talks that resulted into Peace Agreement between forces loyal to Kiir and Machar respectively.
He was the strongest voice of the armed opposition at the time but he left the Movement in a move squarely blamed on the Government of the Republic of South Sudan, not a mere frustration.
Gen. Lul Ruai is now dedicated his strength SSRM/A that has now turned against him in unprecedented nature. His comrades in his Movement accused him of mismanaging the Movement’s funds acquired from the government of President Salva Kiir; poor cooperation between him and Kiir has been notice by those who are familiar with the situation. Last year, Lul was spotted in Pajut of Jonglei state, summoning 14 people in uniform with a few rifles to who he braggingly posed for pictures he posted on his Facebook timeline.
Brig. Lul promised to fight for Greater Lou Nuer Administrative Area, an autonomous power similar to Pibor Administrative Area that was awarded Gen David Yau Yau. Unlike Yau Yau who previously fought the Government on many battles, Lul Ruai has no formidable force to fight SPLM/A-IO in Lou Nuer land, he never fires a single bullet up to this day.
Thoknaath claimed Lul ran to Nairobi with all the money given to them by the government to reorganize his force to attack Akobo; but cared less about his comrades and left them with no food or water in the semi-arid land of Bor.
“As we are speak, he took all the money and left to Nairobi Kenya and left everyone empty-handed without food and water.”
Lul once accused Machar mismanagement of the Movement’s funds, poor military supplies and lack of commitment to oust Salva Kiir militarily, now the bug is hunting him.
