Nov 6, 2015(Nyamilepedia) — Officials of Sudan People Liberation Movement and Army in Opposition denied the allegations that the First Vice President Designate, Dr. Riek Machar, would travel to Juba next week as proclaimed in social media.
According to some media outlets, which published allegations that Dr. Riek Machar Teny, the Chairman and Commander in Chief of the armed opposition would travel to Juba in a company of Ethiopia’s Prime Minister for a one day visit next week to boost the spirit and commitment to implement the recently signed.
Speaking to Deputy Representative of the SPLM/A to the Ethiopia and Africa Union, Amb. David Dang Kong, however, challenge the allegation that the allegations which he believed are being spread by an authorized person claiming to be speaking on behave of the Movement.
“Please inform all the media Houses that Dr. Riek Machar Teny will not be going to Juba next week as proclaims. The advance team of the SPLM/A will be going to Juba first and prepare the security on the ground before the chairman goes to Juba. And when the time comes for him to travel to Juba the whole wide world will know about it because thousands of people will be expected in the airports to receive him.” He further cites.
Ambassador Dang Kong says the report is not truth and blames those spreading lies to stop immediately and focus on other things.
“It is not acceptable to continue hearing this information carelessly spread in the media which are not true. We are asking the people of south Sudan to be calms concerning this issue in particular those in the UNMISS camps who may be preparing to come out to see Dr. Riek Machar.” Dang added.
He further dismissed the allegations saying it is “merely baseless” and holding no ground.
“It is baseless and holding no concrete ground. The people’s Leader Dr. Riek Machar is not traveling to Juba without a proper arrangement within the People’s Movement. Yes, he will go but not next week and he must go to Juba in future under a clarify structure agreed by the Opposition in the conference in Pagak.”
Dr. Riek Machar Teny, the Chairman and Commander-In- for the SPLM/Army in Opposition escaped Juba in December 2013, amid intense massacre of the Nuer ethnic group. At least 34 people including a dozen of body guards, women and children were reportedly killed in Dr. Riek’s residence in Juba.
Machar narrowly escaped Juba and established a force in Jonglei state under command of Gen. Peter Gatdet Yaka and a few other generals who defected from the capital, Juba.
While denying allegations that he masterminded a coup against Salva Kiir for which he and his colleagues were to be charged of treason, Machar declared fierce rebellion against Salva Kiir government.
Despite that the allegations were rejected by the International community and Museveni himself, the Ugandan president, Ugandan army continued fighting in South Sudan conflict until a few ago when they began to evacuate the battles zones
The two warring parties signed a Transitional Security Agreement in Addis Ababa as the last part of the negotiation process to end the nearly two years South Sudan civil war which has claimed over more than ten thousands lives.
In other reports, SPLM/A begins its 5th conference in Pagak this week to discuss the process of the peace implementation. The conference so far attracted over 800 Opposition delegates across the world.
