In North America, Machar held many well-attended public briefings with South Sudan-Americans, briefed media houses, foreign diplomats and Obama administration.

Machar briefed the gatherings on the peace agreement and its implementation process, urging the Diaspora community to use their technological connections and internet access to share messages of peace and focus discussions on issues that will promote the successful implementation of the peace agreement.
At the end of his briefings, Machar allowed question and answer sessions that gave chance to participants to engage in discussion with the leaders.
The briefings were organized in New York, Maine, Kansas, California, Washington DC, Minnesota, among other states, with the biggest public briefing in Omaha Nebraska, which was attended by more than ten thousands South Sudanese and friends.
Miyong also confirms that Machar’s delegation met with American stakeholders in all the cities they visited.
“This is a strong gesture by the Americans to show the close partnership between US and South Sudan and to affirm their commitment for peace in South Sudan.” Said the Representative to the United Nations, Miyong Kuon, who accompanied the delegation.
“Dr. Riek’s visit to the United States, the community tour, and most importantly, sitting and listening to the concerns of the people, are great examples of his unique leadership style that aims at getting all South Sudanese equally engaged in the affairs of the country.” he continued.
The former Vice President also attended church services, one of which was organized by The South Sudanese Nebraska Council of Churches, where Dr. Riek briefed hundreds of congregations on IGAD-Plus peace process.
