July 27th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President, Salva Kiir Mayardiit, has appointed Deng Alor as the holder who will be responsible for Abyei’s file on its final status according to a copy of a presidential decree obtained by Nyamilepedia.

The order cited in the paper obtained by the Nyamilepedia was cited as “The Republican Order No.17/2019 for the Assignment of Abyei File for its Expeditious Follow up towards the Implementation of Final Status of Abyei, 2019 A.D.”

It came into force immediately following the signing by the president. It however did not give an outline of Deng Alor’s activities.

Abyei has been one of the contentious issues left unresolved between South Sudan and Sudan following the break-away of the former in July 2011.

The two countries have reiterated that Abyei belongs to each of them and Sudan said several times that it will not at any cost leave Abyei for South Sudan.
