Heart Broken US Ambassador Calls For Salva Kiir To Be Held Accountable For Doing So Much Harm To South Sudanese People

Oct 26, 2017(Nyamilepedia) —— In one short visit that has brought more attention to South Sudan than many visits of the Former Secretary of State, John Kerry and his delegates, the US ambassador to the United Nations, Amb. Nikki Haley, left no stone unturned.

Ambassador Nikki, who was heartbroken by what she witnessed in refugees camps as victims narrates dehumanizing stories, did not only point finger at the top leadership, something many western politicians and human rights defenders have failed to do, but calls on the International Community, regional powers and African union to hold Salva Kiir accountable for inhuman suffering he inflicted on his people.

According to Amb. Haley, Kiir does not care about the well-being of his people or their suffering in refugees camps but cares more of his political powers and tribal interests.

Haley believes that the international community can no longer allows such a brutal man to cause atrocities, killing and displacement at the expense of American taxpayers who contribute billions of US dollars in USAIDs and other humanitarian services.

“No human being should live the way these people have lived, should have the memories that these people have and should feel the pain that they have felt. It’s just inconceivable,” Haley told reporters.

“We are disappointed by what we are seeing. This is not what we thought we were investing in,” said Ambassador Haley. “What we thought we were investing in was a free, fair society where people could be safe and South Sudan is the opposite of that.”

Speaking on behalf of her government, Amb. Nikki said the American government has lost trust in Salva Kiir government that there is no need for more talks.

“We have lost trust in this Government and we now need to regain that trust. The only way to regain that trust is through the actions of taking care of all of the people.” Nikki Said.

The US representative warns that her government has nothing to debate any further, she needs action taken with immediate effect.

“I didn’t come here to talk. I came here to say the time for action is now. We are not waiting anymore we need to see a change and we need to see it right away,” she said.

During her visit to South Sudan capital, Juba, Nikki offered some of her limited time to visit the internally displaced persons in UN Protection Site but that visit was cut short when the IDPs went on peaceful demonstration calling for Salva Kiir to step down.

“Sad but inspiring day in South Sudan. We felt the pain and the passion of the people. A government that doesn’t respect all of its people cannot be sustained.” Nikki wrote on her Facebook fan page
