Aug 16, 2021 — The divided forces of SPLA in Opposition, under the leadership of the First Vice President Dr Riek Machar Teny and his disgruntled Chief of Staff, 1st. Gen. Simon Gatwech Dual, resumed fighting today at Tabaldi near Magenis.

According to SPLA-IO military spokesman under Gen. Simon Gatwech Dual, Brig. Gen. William Gatjiath Deng, the forces loyal to Machar attacked their forces again this morning at Tabaldi, a distance of about 25 kilometres from Magenis.

“The SPLA (IO) Military unit at “Tabaldi” 25k from (Kit-Gwang) Magenis, has heavily attacked right now by the forces loyal to the former Chairman Dr. Riek Machar, despite the ceasefire that he had claimed three (3) days ago.” Gatjiath said.

According to William Gatjiath, their forces repulsed the attack on their position and they were still pursuing Machar’s attacking forces at the time of his writing.

“The SPLA (IO) fighters under the command of the interim Chairman and Commander in Chief (C-in-C) General Simon Gatwech Dual, repulsed the enemy after the artillery units and the ground forces responded with excessive force and completely disarrayed the enemy and they are on the run now, as I am reporting”

At the time of this report, Machar’s SPLA-IO spokesman, Col. Lam Paul Gabriel, was yet to respond to their news.

Both sides have been exchanging accusations when it comes to who attacks who; however, Nyamilepedia was able to verify that the previous attack on Magenis was launched by Machar’s forces but they were defeated by Gatwech’s forces.
