July 22, 2022 — The Liech communities in the Arab Republic of Egypt, Canada, Kenya, United States of America and Uganda are saddened to learn of the barbaric killing of Mayom County Commissioner Hon. James Chuol Gatluak and twelve other people following a night attack orchestrated by armed criminals led by Gen. Stephen Buay Rolnyang.
This most sorrowful incident took place last night in the Mayom county headquarters in Unity State on 22nd July 2022.
We must say this is a great lost to Liech community Worldwide. Thus, we condemned the death of our leader and 12 others with contempt it deserved.
On behalf of our respective communities, we express our deepest sympathy and condolences to the immediate families and friends of the victims, and the people of Mayom county at large.
We appeal to the National government and humanitarian agencies to immediately intervene in providing the medical assistance to the wounded and displaced persons in Mayom County.
Further, the Unity State security organs must ensure the perpetrators behind this heinous attack are dealt with firmly by our security forces.
We would like the Unity State Authority to move with speed so as to restore law and order in Mayom County.
Finally, this incident is yet another clarion call to Unity State Government to work together as a team to provide adequate security in our various counties in Unity State.
