By Mrs. Marnath William Ruei | Chairperson,
August 20, 2015(Nyamilepedia) — The leadership of Nuer community in Victoria-Australia in collaboration with sub-communities want to take this historic moment to congratulate the leadership of the SPLM/A-IO and its Chairman Dr. Riek Machar Teny Dhurgon for their wise and brave decision on signing the IGAD-PLUS Compromise Peace Agreement on the 17th August 2015 in Addis Ababa- Ethiopia.
The undivided Nuer community in Australia as the rest of the world were anxiously waiting for 17th August 2015 to see the end of the war in South Sudan; unfortunately Salva Kiir and his regime in Juba did not meet the expectations of the people of South Sudan. Since 17th August 2015 the leadership of the “SPLM/A IO” had demonstrated leadership, professionalism, determinations and commitments to bring peace to the people of South Sudan at any cost, and therefore we want to earnestly praise Dr. Riek Machar for his courageous stands and commitment for peaceful resolution
We the Nuer community in particular is the most pretentious community amongst the South Sudanese. Therefore we are eager to the peace more than anytime ever and we believe the time has come to put an end to this unconscious war; as our people have suffered enough.
We are also urging the IGAD-PLUS, regional leaders and the international community to assist and support the leadership of SPLM/A IO. We urge South Sudanese all over the world to support the decision made by the leadership of the SPLM/A led by Dr. Riek Machar to stop the sufferings of South Sudanese people. Our position is very simple and clear that we are for peace and we stand with those who support peace in South Sudan.
Once again we want to congratulate the leadership of the SPLM/A IO for considering the hardship of the people of South Sudan and putting their interest of the South Sudanese people above all.
May God bless the people of South Sudan
