Aug 8th, 2022  — SSIAHR vehemently condemns the atrocities and blatant crimes against humanity that is taking place in  Mayom County by the government, that is supposed to serve and protect its people, and the rebel  forces should do likewise`. These atrocities are increasing in frequency and severity.

The June 24th government attack on rebel forces in Bong resulted in the loss of an innocent live. On July  22, 2022, rebels attacked a civilian town in Mayom County resulting in the murder of 12 people,  including the County Commissioner James Gatluak Manime, and left another 13 civilians wounded. On  July 26, 2022, rebel forces attacked a government convoy burning three vehicles carrying both soldiers  and civilian students, resulting in 19 lives lost and many people wounded between Ajakuach and Kotong.

On July 27, 2022, the government attacked innocent civilian cattle camps in Manyang- Koat Deng Chuth,  resulting in 13 dead and many more wounded. July 29, 2022, the government targeted businessman  Kuich Koch, who had no connection with rebels. This targeted attack resulted in more than 7 people  dead and many more wounded.

In a one-month span, the conduct of both the government and rebel forces has led to more than 40  people being murdered and many more lives placed in danger of displacement. We mourn the lives of  the innocent individuals that have been lost in these atrocities.

SSIAHR condemn these acts and demand the release of all those arrested in Juba, Bentiu, Mankien and  Mayom simply because they come from certain areas that are related to Rebels.

SSIAHR is aware of and has kept record of the malfeasance of some very destructive government  officials and generals dating back to April 2011 when villages within Mayom County were burned to  ashes under their orders and supervision of Government. Likewise, from 2013-2022, we have kept  record of the numerous occasions officials and generals were responsible for the burning of several  villages and the displacement of many people in Unity State counties. We have traced their efforts of  developing and fostering hatred amongst and against South Sudan tribes and clans.

SSIAHR urges all human rights organizations, including the United Nations Human Rights Council, Human  Rights Watch, and Amnesty International to help investigate and condemn all these atrocities and crimes  against humanity carried out by the government of South Sudan.

Yours Truly,
