Nov 30, 2020(Nyamilepedia) — SPLM-IO cantonment in Aswa has become a betrayal zone due to its blasphemy towards the peace initiative that kicked off from the Khartoum Peace Treaty and consequently bringing the SPLM-IO to the various cantonments including ASWA cantonment in Eastern Equatoria.
The Ma’di community is alarmed yet to see their son Sisto Ridi Utulu, a top general in the movement has been detained arbitrarily incommunicado at ASWA cantonment by Dr. Riek Machar. This has come at a time when the community has lost a prominent Brigadier General Martin Kenyi and yet the movement swept the news under its dirty carpet for four years not until last week when the leadership admitted to late Brig. General’s family that he indeed passed on without detailing the circumstance surrounding his death.
Today the detention and subsequent disappearance of General Sisto Ridi Utulu is yet another mind-boggling news to the Ma’di community and the entire Equatorians across the globe.
While the cloud of peace is gathering momentum from the KPA (Khartoum Peace Agreement) and the Community based peace dialogue initiative by the Kirr Mayardit government, the leadership of the SPLM-IO is busy doing what they opposed the main SPLM for, a party who gave them a piece of pie as a peace dividend. The SPLM-IO broke off from the Kirr government due to poli-bureau disagreement over key issues including but not limited to political and ethical fiasco.
Despite the verbiage of criticisms towards the SPLM-IG, the SPLM-IO never deviated much from discrimination of its prominent leadership structure and copying the unethical behaviours of the Master SPLM or JCE regime in Juba where tribalism and malpractices are rampant.
The sons of Ma’dis in the top leadership are pitched against each other resulting in the implications brought forth against General Sisto Ridi Utulu. And what is more worrying is the fact that he was kidnapped and detained incommunicado till now. Neither his family nor the public have been informed.
Divide and rule policy which Dr. Riek has made as his magic approach, only encourages divisions, conflicts, and chaos which South Sudan already has in abundance. As a “reformist” or self-styled reformist with his country at heart, if he (Dr. Riek) has nothing to offer for his country he must stop playing with peoples’ lives.
Equatorians are watching to see if he is also going to snatch their son Sisto Ridi Utulu the same way he did to General Martin Kenyi in the jungle of western Equatoria back in 2016. Our insiders and clandestine reporters don’t slumber. We are monitoring the situation closely!
