Opinion: It is easy to find people to work with but hard to get people who will promote your legacy.

July 24, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – It is crystal clear that legacy is what people worked for and it is an important thing that cannot be bought using money. Legacy in it layman definition, it is defined as the gift by God and by will and a bequest of an individual in the society. It is always promoted by people who worked with you before or it is known through what you have left to your children after having left the power or resources. Just like Dr. John Garang De Mabior’s legacy is seen through the independence that we celebrate annually. I think the legacy of SPLM and Dr. Garang is being promoted by President Kiir. This is the same thing, I think am not wrong to promote the legacy of Victor Atem Atem who has worked for stability and peace in our communities, it is something that was very hard to work upon but he has done it to the fullest.

This is the case of former Governor Hon. Victor Atem Atem Angok, I strongly believe that he is the only Governor who has solved the problem between the two sisterly communities of Aguok and Apuk. He is the man who has rescued the lives of our people to live in peace, harmony, security and stability. He knows how to promote and execute his roles as the Governor in term of administering public safety security for all. He has managed to comprehensively disarmed our civilians, something that has resulted into a total peace. He is known of stability in his leadership just like when he was serving as the Commissioner of Gogrial East County, he was able to promote peace in his administrative territory.

He later got appointed to be the Minister of Local Government and Laws Enforcement Agencies in Warrap State because of what he did when he was a Commissioner, at the same time he was appointed later as the Minister of General Education and instructions at the state of Warrap. He became the Security Advisor to Abraham Gum Makuac the first Governor of Defunct Gogrial state, and in the same Government he was appointed as Minister of Education and instructions where he was relieved and got appointed by the President of the Republic of South Sudan H.E Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit as the Governor of Defunct Gogrial State.

If the legacy is always promoted by those whom you had worked with, then the legacy of Victor Atem Atem the noble peace loving leader would have been promoted by his former subordinates. Therefore, for somebody who has worked with Ministers, Directors, Commissioners and nobody is promoting his political ideology or legacy is a case in question but those people might have been brought in by positions no by ideology.

To me who is interested in peace that we are enjoying as common men and women, we have to promote the legacy of Victor Atem Atem because he is a man of peace, he is the best implementer of national government policies like he did when he was implementing the State of Emergency. He has provided security in order for Ajiep Bridge to get completed.

His legacy must be kept in place by us young people and the common men. He is the only leader who has fought corruption vigorously. It is easy to find people to work with but it is very hard to get people who will promote your legacy.
