Aug 20, 2021 — South Sudan got independent on 9th July 2011. A ten year old country. This ended up a bloody war of 1983 to 2005 when comprehensive peace agreement was signed between the government of Sudan and Sudan people’s liberation movement and army (SPLM/A). The number of people estimated to have died in war and war related situation were 2.5 million. The Anyanya war of 1955 to 1972 had lost 1.7   million lives in war and war related situation. When Dr. John Garang De Mabior was signing the agreement, he said “guns and bombs will not fall on people again” all parties and people who witnessed the agreement said “guns are to go silent”. Is it true?
From 15th December 2013, guns begin killing people in Juba and it spread all over the country. Every tribe and family experienced death and tears pour in everyone’s family. The UN estimated that 400,000 people died up to the time peace was signed in September 2018. But guns continue killing people all over the country. Why these killings and fights? Why these loss of lives and destruction of properties?. I though when people become independent from Sudan, South Sudan will be the best country and good place for everyone to live in. This proved to be false in action. People were criticizing Sudan like the best country makers. We criticized and do the opposite. Why? But we can still do better and prove ourselves right people.
African union passed a resolution that guns will go silent by the year 2020. Is African union living up to its resolutions? Africa union is combination of failed African leaders who resisted changes in the their countries they led and will not and cannot effect changes in Africa. It pass resolutions and sleep over them. IGAD the regional block of East Africa Community is not strong enough to live up to its promises and constitutions.
I call upon IGAD, African union, Trioka and the international community to save the citizens of South Sudan by helping the country leaders to implement the peace agreement. All the killings on the roads, killing indoors by robbers, killing at cattle raiding and pockets of wars will come to an end when peace agreement is fully implemented. The citizens of South Sudan are vulnerable people that need your support and the government leadership need your support to help them implement the peace agreement.
I call upon the government of South Sudan and South Sudanese people to cooperate and work together to implement the peace agreement. This country can go forward when total peace is every where in the Conners of the country. People are tall, giant and energetic enough to produce food. Billions of dollars that go to neighboring countries for buying food will rotate within and people will be wealthy. Nowadays citizens cannot go to their gardens and cultivate because of insecurity. The citizens of South Sudan blame East Africa countries for having interest in money from South Sudan but not the South Sudanese people. I am telling East Africa Community that you eat and help the people to live and enjoy life. Do not enjoy eating that when they wake up from sleep, food will go out of your mouth. Be godly and friendly.
My interest is for peace and ending of killings in Africa and South Sudan in particular. Blessed are the merciful, they Will be shown mercy and blessed and the peacemakers, they will be called the children of God.
Killings on the road kills every troubler, robbers kill without choice and wars destroy the security in the region and internationally as every human being is part of the international community.
Let us make peace and live for peace.
