VPIC Taban Deng denies being targeted by President Kiir or Akol Koor in new Security Deal.

Juba, South Sudan

April 10, 2022 — The office of the South Sudan’s Vice President for Infrastructure Cluster, Gen. Taban Deng Gai, has denied any political rift between Gen. Taban Deng and president Kiir and also between Taban and the head of the Internal Security Bureau, Gen. Akol Koor.

In a recent deal between President Kiir and Machar, most of the top positions in the military, security and police services have been reallocated to the SPLM/A-IO of Dr. Riek Machar Teny leaving speculations that the deal victimizes Taban and his group.

Responding to the reports, Kawaja Kau Madol, the Press Secretary in the office of the Vice President, refutes such information and urged public to treat speculations as “misleading and slanderous”.

“.. Office of Vice President and Chairperson for Infrastructure Cluster strongly refute allegations made by 64 tribes on alleged rift between H.E Vice President and Gen. Akol Koor Kuc, Director General of ISB”, Madol refuted in a statement seen by Nyamilepedia.

“.. Let me categorically state that no such bad relations exist between these two leaders and public should treat such information as misleading and slanderous”, the statement added.

The statement stressed that the circulated list of Generals on social media should be treated the same with other tribes and such exercise does not upset Vice President whatsoever since it was president’s constitutional mandate.

“. Equally, on list of Generals circulating on social media, I want the public to give the same treatment as that of 64 tribes above. H.E Vice President understand that commissioning, promotion and deployment of army officers and officers from other organized forces in Republic of South Sudan is a clear mandate of H.E President Salva Kiir Mayardit as C-IN-C and Supreme commander of all other regular forces”, the statement emphasized.

According to the statement, the Vice President Taban Deng Gai has no existing forces.

“.. There are no existing forces for H.E Gen. Taban Deng Gai, Vice President. Treat all these shenanigans with absolute contempt both deserves”, the Press statement concluded.

Early this week, the President Salva Kiir Mayardit removed all military and police officers believed to be allies of the Vice President Taban and allocated their positions to the leadership of the SPLA (IO) following an agreement reached by parties over command structure of the Unified Forces.
