This comes after the UJOSS condemned the closure of Singaita 88.3 FM over the last weeks and demanded the immediate reopening of the radio station.

Two weeks ago authorities in Eastern Equatoria State shutdown the Singaita 88.3 FM without stating any reason.

In a statement seen by Nyamilepedia, the UJOSS president, Oyet Patrick Charles says the Singaita 88.3 FM doesn’t serve only people of Kapoeta but also provides pastoral communities in neighboring Uganda and Kenya with accurate information, making it beneficial to the three countries.

“Singaita 88.3 FM serves not only the people of Kapoeta with vital information but also the pastoral communities in neighboring Uganda and Kenya providing job opportunities to members of UJOSS in the process”, UJOSS president Charles said in a statement.

Charles says Singaita 88.3 FM is playing a significant role in spreading the Revitalized Agreement.

“It also plays a key role in the dissemination of the content of the agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan signed in 2018”,the statement added.

According to the statement, UJOSS hopes Eastern Equatoria State authorities and the management of Singaita 88.3 FM will build on the spirit of dialogue that opened the station and will work to develop the media and journalists in the country.
