April 19, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) — Three SPLA-IO soldiers have been killed and five others wounded during a shooting at a training site near Leer town, a senior opposition official said today.
The shooting, the opposition official said, took place on Friday at Mom training centre of the Necessary Unified Forces (NUF) when a member of the SSPDF soldier opened fire on his SPLM-IO counterparts killing three and injuring five.
“There was a shooting at Mom training centre. A government soldier opened fire against SPLM-IO soldiers who were sitting under a tree and killed three of them. Five others were badly wounded,” the official said from Juba on condition of anonymity.
He said investigations were underway and that SPLM-IO deputy chief of staff Gen. Duop Lam had left for Mom to find out what had really happened.
“There are now investigation carried out between the SSPDF and the SPLA-IO. General Duop Lam has gone there to find more details and how such incident could not repeat itself again,” he added.
