The Sudanese Prime Minister took it to twitter to celebrate the return of the armed opposition leaders, announcing how significant it is to consolidate peace and stability in the new Sudan.

According to Prime Minister Hamdok, their return signifies the end of war and a new beginning.

“The arrival of our comrades and partners in change from the leaders of the armed struggle movements to the land of the dear homeland today is a true inauguration of a peace building process and the beginning of the closure of the page of wars in Sudan forever towards an adult political practice.” Abdalla Hamdok.

Hamdok further wrote that Sudan has reached a peace deal that addressed the roots causes of the conflicts in Sudan.

“For the first time in the history of Sudan, we reached a peace that truly addresses the roots of the Sudanese crisis, addresses the issues of building the Sudanese state, the roots related to wars, unbalanced development and marginalization,” he wrote.

Hamdok said that they met in all exiles, inside and outside Africa as they were searching and striving for this day believing that the Sudanese people deserve all of that.

“Today, we begin the first steps to put an end to the suffering of our people in the displacement and asylum camps, and this peace must address this suffering,” he said.

According to Hamdok, there are many priorities for the transitional period, on top of which are peace, the economy, foreign relations, building state institutions and completing the transitional period’s apparatus.

Hamdok welcomes the opposition leaders’ return and assures that together they shall address the outstanding challenges that are facing their country.

“Your arrival today constitutes the true beginning of this achievement. A thousand welcome to your homeland, and we, together, can challenge and address all difficulties for the sake of these great people,” he stated.

The Sudanese prime minister stressed that freedom, peace, justice and revolution are the people’s choices, and unity will make it possible to achieve such objectives.

Sudan signed a peace agreement in Juba on October 3rd in an event that was attended by the international leaders, many Sudanese and South Sudanese leaders.
