June 22, 2015(Nyamilepedia) — Following a media report issued by the office of the Governor of Central Equatoria, Hon. Clement Wani Konga, alleging the defection of the deputy Chairman of the SPLM/SPLA in Opposition, Lt. Gen. Alfred Lado Gore, the deputy chairman blasts at his counterpart saying that he will never betray the aspiration of millions of Equatorians who have hopes in SPLM/SPLA [IO].

“Millions of Equatorians inside South Sudan and in Diaspora have hopes in SPLM/SPLA as the movement that will bring peace and stability to the country and the Deputy Chairman of SPLM/A is not prepared to betray their hopes and aspiration” Gen. Lado said.

Lt. Gen. Lado was responding to what he believes is a malicious report generated by his counterpart, Maj. Gen. Wani Konga, to seek renewal of his gubernatorial term in his name when its expires in July, next month.

“The term of Kiir’s government ends on July 8th, 2015 together with his governors so there is no point of joining a government whose legitimacy is questioned, its term is expiring and is responsible for carrying out genocides on South Sudanese citizens” Gen. Lado said.

“Konga’s statement, therefore, is a desperate attempt to win political favor from the embattled President to maintain him as the governor of Central Equatoria and intended to tarnish the good name of the Deputy Chairman of SPLM/SPLA” Gen. Lado  expresses his disappointment.

According to Lt. Gen. Alfred Lado Gore, the CES Governor Wani Konga issued a report on 18th June, 2015 and circulated the following day in Juba to mislead the public on the meetings between the Equatorians in the Opposition with those in the government.

“The statement that the Governor of Central Equatoria State, Clement Wani Konga made to the media on Thursday 18th June 2015 and reported by Jok Petero in Juba, on 19th June 2015 is intended to mislead the public and is devoid of any grain of truth” General Lado explains.

In his statement, Gen. Lado elaborates that the Equatorian leaders held two meetings, one in April and another in May,  in Nairobi, and ultimately agreed on a position paper that was signed by two senior officials appointed by the SPLM/SPLA [IO] Chairman on behave of the Equatorians in the Opposition and two others senior official appointed by the three governors of Equatoria.

The position paper calls for adoption of Federal Systems, Security and General reforms in the country during the transition period.

According to Gen. Lado, the two parties agreed that the Equatorian leaders in the Opposition will lead the campaign to popularize the document while the governors and other senior Equatorian officials in the regime shall fund and generate any needed resources for the implementation.

“They conceded that the Equatorian in the SPLM/SPLA are best placed to lead the political process to ensure the International community, regional leaders and IGAD are made aware of the position of the Equatorians both in the government and in the SPLM/SPLA.” Gen. Lado explains.

“They pledged to make resources available to facilitate the production of the position paper and also to enable senior politicians on both sides to visit the neighboring countries.”  he continued.

According to the deputy chairman of IO, without such resources the meeting with the leaders of Uganda, South Africa and Ethiopia would never have been possible.

Gen. Lado, however, was disappointed that the governor of Central Equatoria, Wani Konga, wrote a “secret letter” to the Ugandan President allegedly to inform Mr. Yoweri Museveni that Gen. Lado and his delegation needed assistance to defect from the opposition.

“The visit to Kampala was primarily to make the authorities in Uganda aware about the position of the Equatorians. To the dismay and disappointment of SPLM/SPLA committee that visited Kampala, Governor Clement Wani Konga had written a letter to the President of Uganda saying that the Deputy Chairman of SPLM/SPLA and some of his comrades are separating from the movement and want to be provided with assistance in terms of accommodation and financial support and that the Deputy Chairman want to open a direct talk with Salva Kiir Mayardiit.” the statement reads.

Despite the letter, Gen. Lado said he reputed the allegation and instead briefed the Ugandan leadership on the agreed position of the Equatorians.

According to Gen. Lado, the talks collapsed and the CES governor, Wani Konga, was blamed and isolated by the two governors of Western and Eastern Equatoria.

“The meeting in Kampala ended in dissagreement leaving governor Clement Wani Konga embarrassed and isolated from the other two governors of Equatoria Luis Lobong and Joseph Bakosoro, who were visibly dissapointed at their colleague.” Lt. Gen, Lado Gore said.

“The even confided that they  did not know why Konga brought them to meet with the SPLM/SPLA delegation and the Ugandan authority in Kampala” he added.

The deputy Chairman of the Opposition believes that the media statement that was recently issued by Konga “is simply a face saving measure and nothing more”.

Lado concludes that the Deputy Chairman will never abandon the opposition to join Salva Kiir regime for material gain. He believes that Gen. Konga’s attempt to divide the opposition has failed.

Calls for Gen. Lado To Yield to Investigation:

In a different report, issued and signed by 27 senior Equatorians’ officials in the Opposition, Lt. Gen. Lado Gore must resign or suspended to be investigated for accepting bribes from the government-allied Equatorian officials.
The 27 senior officials of SPLM/SPLA-IO accused the Deputy Chairman, Alfred Ladu Gore,  and his two other colleagues, Ramadan Hassan Laku, the chief coordinator in the office of Dr. Riek Machar and Adel Sandrai, SPLM/SPLA[IO] representative to Kenya of conducting secret meetings and planning to defect the movement.

The officials calls on Dr. Riek Machar, the Chairman and the Command-in-Chief of the SPLM/SPLA resistance movement, to suspend the three officials and establish a committee to investigate the allegations.

“Urge the leadership to suspend from office Cde. Alfred Ladu Gore, Cde. Ramadan Hassan Laku and Cde. Adel Senderi,” the 27 Senior Equatorian official declared in their statement.

“That the leadership establishes a five (05) member independent investigation committee headed by the Deputy Chairman of the National Committee for Justice and Human Rights to investigate and render reports with recommendations within two weeks on the misconducts of Cde. Alfred Ladu Gore, Cde. Ramadan Hassan Laku and Cde. Adel Senderi,” the report continues.
