This comes less than 24 hours after the representatives of the SPLM-IO from the three Administrative Areas paid a courtesy visit to South Sudan’s First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar who doubles also as Chairman of the SPLM_IO.

In a statement seen by Nyamilepedia, the meeting discussed several concerns and number of issues facing the members of the SPLM/A (IO) in the three Administrative Areas.

SPLM-IO State Chairperson of Abyei Administrative Area, Cde.Nyenagwek Kuol said the exclusion of the opposition members in the government of the three Administrative Areas is a grave violation of the power-sharing agreement.

“Addressing the media after the meeting, Hon. Nyenagwek Kuol said, they raised their concerns on the exclusion of the SPLM/A (IO) from the government of the 3 Administrative Areas, thus violating the Power-sharing agreement on the Administrative Areas”, Kuol said in a statement.

Nyenagwek Kuol said that they condemn in the strongest possible terms the unilateral formation of governments in Abyie, Pibor and Ruweng by their Chief Administrators because it is unlawful, adding that article 1.9.2.1 of the R-ARCSS “only the President/Presidency has the power to appoint constitutional post holders.

According to the statement, Kuol also condemned the creation of more counties in Pibor and Ruweng Administrative Areas by their Chief Administrators and urged the Chief Administrators in the three Administrative Areas to revoke their decisions and to reaffirm their commitment to the Power-sharing agreement.

Ms. Nyenagwek Kuol is the SPLM-IO designated for the position of Deputy Minister of Interior but President Kiir has been so reluctant to appoint her in a violation of the revitalized peace agreement.
