May 30, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) — A third South Sudan vice-president has announced that he has tested positive for coronavirus becoming the third in the presidency of five men to contract the virus.

“Today, I have been informed by the ministry of health that I and few other individuals have been tested positive for COVID-19,” Igga told the state-owned SSBC.

Other reports reached the Nyamilepedia that the entire family of the vice-president have also tested positive for coronavirus.

A senior government official said the samples of Igga and his family were collected on Thursday and came back positive for the virus today.

Igga is not the first South Sudan vice-president to test positive for coronavirus.

Two weeks ago, First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar and his wife and the minister of defense Angelina Teny, both tested positive for the virus.

Last week, vice-president Hussein Abdelbaggi who replaced Machar as the leader of the high-level coronavirus taskforce tested positive for the virus and have so far quarantined himself.

South Sudan cases of the virus have continued to spike after president Salva Kiir Mayardit ordered that initial measures such as curfew be lifted.
