South Sudan National Security Cracks Down Activists in Uganda And Kenya

May 07, 2017 (Nyamilepedia) —— A south Sudanese in the national security sounds an alarm bell that the government of South Sudan is looking for five South Sudanese civil society activists to arrest them. The security officer, whom Nyamilepedia withholds his identity for the sake of his safety has informed this news desk that Joseph Amanya, Tito Anthony,  Peter Gai Manyuon, Biel Boutros Biel and Ter Manyang Gatwech are targeted for arrested by South Sudan government.

According to him, an order of arrest of the said civil society leaders is issued. Currently, the government of South Sudan has despatched security team to Kenya and Uganda to find these leaders, and with the corporation of the host countries, will be deported to Juba and be subjected to harsh treatment in National Security’s Jebel blue house (Blue Hotel). He claimed that Joseph Amanya is accused of advocating for the deployment of a regional protection force to Juba when the government opposes the idea.

All the five activists are accused of varying allegations according to the security officer. The government accused Tito Anthony of providing sensitive information against the government to the UN Security Council and the United States of America, information that would lead to giving sanction to President Salva Kiir, chief of general staff Gen. Paul Malong Awan and other senior officials including Michael Makuei Lueth, Thomas Douth Guet and the First Vice President Gen. Taban Deng Gai.

While Peter Gai is wanted for his participation in the Sentry report, Biel Boutros Biel is to be arrested for pledging allegiance to the SPLM/A in Opposition of Riek Machar’s faction. Ter Manyang’s harsh criticism of the government on social media made South Sudan national security unhappy.
