In a statement obtained by Nyamilepedia, South Sudan’s head of state President, Salva Kiir Mayardit, says he stands in solidarity with the Ethiopian people in such unwanted situation and urges both sides to dialogue.

“The Government of the Republic of South Sudan and particularly H.E President Salva Kiir Mayardit has been very concerned with recent advances of TPLF rebel group in Northern Ethiopia”, the statement reads.

Last week, Ethiopian Prime Minister, Dr. Abiy Ahmed declared state of emergency following the seizure of the two crucial towns in Amhara region by the Tigray People Liberation Front.

“The President once again takes this opportunity to renew his pledge of solidarity and support to the people and government of Ethiopia ; and urge both the government and TPLF rebel to come to table for dialogue”, the statement added.

President Kiir in a statement, says Ethiopia is one of the closest allies whose suffering of her innocent civilians cannot be underestimated by sisterly Republic of South Sudan.

“As a close ally that had benefited from the generosity of the Ethiopian people, South Sudan is obliged not to close her eyes to the suffering that these wars inflict upon our innocent people in the Horn of Africa”, Kiir stated in a statement.

He said the problem should be brought to table and will lead as catalyst for Africa to rise to the challenge of reconciliation.

“We ought to bring such suffering into full view and use it as catalyst for us to rise to the challenges of reconciliation”, he stressed further in the statement.

Kiir believes that such internal conflicts requires heroic response from Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed so that he don’t lose his indispensable position as geopolitical leader in the region , assuring that he is ready to support peaceful dialogue that can bring the two waring parties on table.
