South Sudan minister dies at local hospital in Juba

February 25th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – A South Sudan state minister has died at a local hospital in the capital Juba according to family members who spoke to the Nyamilepedia this morning.

Sabrino Majok Majok, the minister of education for Aweil East state died on Sunday at Ayii Duang hospital in Juba following a lengthy battle against prostate cancer according to the Presidential Press Secretary Ateny Wek Ateny.

“The Aweil Community, and of course the entire nation is saddened by the untimely passing of Hon. Sabrino Majok Majok, Aweil East State Minister of Education yesterday evening, February 24, 2019,” Ateny said in a statement seen by the Nyamilepedia adding that he “died of prostate cancer.”

Ateny further called the passing on as a “double tragedy” because a state MP, Maror Kur Kur, from the Aweil East state died three days early in the same hospital in Juba.

“The late Sabrino Majok and the late Maror Kur Kur were icons of the liberation struggle and their untimely passing at this crucial time left a very serious gaps,” Ateny further added.
