February 25th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan former Minister of Labor and Public Service Gen. Gathoth Gatkouth today removed First Vice President Taban Deng Gai as the leader of the SPLM-IO (TB) faction that is allied to South Sudan government.

“We therefore wish to bring to the attention of the public, our collective decision to withdraw our support for Gen, Taban Deng Gai, both as FVP representing the SPLM-IO (In TGONU) and as leader of the SPLM/A (IO) a body that he illegally dissolved but continue to cling to as the basis of his role in the TGONU,” Gen. Gathoth said in a statement extended to the Nyamilepedia.

Gen. Gatkuoth further said some of the commitments the SPLM-IO wanted to deliver were “to mobilize the SPLM/A IO fraternity to implement the ARCISS 2015, unite, reconcile and heal the country from further violence and carnage, To reach out to the internally displaced persons (IDPs) in POCs and refugees in the neighboring countries to return home [and] to order all our holdout forces to report to the designated cantonment centers for immediate assembly and re-integration.”

“To our dismay, 90% of the above objectives have not been met and the TGONU is coming to an end in May 2019 to give a way for the R-TGONU as per 2018 R-ARCISS. We strongly believe that this poor performance is due to poor leadership and lack of command and control by FVP Gen. Taban Deng Gai,” he added.
