President Kiir installs his former Minister, Mayik Ayik as Foreign Minister

Juba, South Sudan

September 9,2021 —  In a presidential decree announced through the state owned SSBC, President Salva Kiir has fired the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Beatrice Khamisa Wani,  and installed his Former Minister, Hon. Mayik Ayik Deng.

In a statement read out on the state owned television (SSBC), no reason was given for the sacking of Hon. Beatrice Khamisa Wani as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The circumstances that motivated her removal remains unclear so far; however, the former minister issued a statement recently and was read on SSBC last evening in which she condemned a military coup against the Guinean president Alpha Conde.

Beatrice demanded that Guineans should respect their constitution, a document that was discarded by the military junta who ascended to power through a military coup.

“The Republic of South Sudan joins the African Union, the United Nations, ECOWAS and other Africa member states to condemn in the strongest terms possible this unconstitutional takeover in Guinea, Conakry which is contrary to the AU constitute Act that advocates for constitutional change of government through elections,” Beatrice Khamisa said

On the other hand, Hon. Mayik Ayik Deng was sacked last year in a controversial scandal that involved unaccounted decisions on the construction of Juba-Bahr el Ghazal Highway after the highway was washed away by a heavy rain.
