Oct 31, 2020(Nyamilepedia) — On Friday, South Sudan President, Salva Kiir Mayardit, bids farewell to the outgoing Nigerian ambassador to South Sudan, Amb. Obinna Chukwuemeka Agbugba, who has concluded his tenure in the country.
According to Kiir’s Press office, the Nigerian ambassador visited J1 to pay his last courtesy call to President Kiir to thank him for all the supports he had in Juba, South Sudan.
“Ambassador Obinna Chukwuemeka Agbugba this Friday, paid a courtesy call on H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit in his Office where he thanked him for the support given to him during his time of duties in South Sudan” President Kiir’s press office said.
“H.E, President Salva Kiir Mayardit commended the bilateral ties and cooperation between the two Countries of South Sudan and Nigeria.” The press statement continued.
During the meeting, Mr. Kiir provided the Outgoing Nigerian ambassador, Obinna Chukwuemeka, with the updates on the status of the implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement.
In return, Mr. Obinna appreciated President Kiir for the milestone achieved in the implementation of the Peace Agreement so far.
In his remarks to the media after the meeting, ambassador Obinna Chukwuemeka called upon Nigeria, Troika and Government of South Sudan to get together in order to help the people of South Sudan to enjoy the dividends of Peace by providing sustainable development and capacity building that needs to be done.
The West African country has contributed to peace process in South Sudan. In addition to chairing the African Union Commission of Inquiry on South Sudan in 2014-15, Nigeria is also one of the five member states that represents the continent in South Sudan peace process.
