The notorious general, who has been repeatedly documented in the Small Arms Survey report for his active roles in Unity State conflicts in the recent past alongside Maj. Gen. Matthew Puljang who temporarily held the same position until early this year.
The controversial general has received warm applause from his immediate relatives and members of his Bul-Nuer community for his appointment to lead division 4, a position that was once held by Lt. Gen. James Koang Ranley and Maj. Gen. Stephen Buay Rolnyang.

Gen. Manyuat and militia leader, Gen. Mathew Puljang rebelled against the Salva Kiir government in 2010; however, they have fought alongside the same government for the last 8 years of the civil war.
This is one of the many appointments president Salva Kiir has made within the last few months.
While president Kiir’s government has refused to implement security arrangements and other key components of the peace agreement, he is actively reshuffling military and political leadership in the country.
