October 11th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – No agreement has been reached by the parties to the agreement’s pre-transitional committee to meet in the nation’s capital Juba as Deng Alor returns, senior SPLM-IO diplomat told the Nyamilepedia on Thursday.

South Sudan’s former minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation Deng Alor Kuol on Wednesday unexpectedly returned to the capital Juba claiming that he is there for a meeting of the pre-transitional committee.

The pre-transitional committee was formed in September by President Salva Kiir as per the revitalized agreement for the resolution of the conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS) signed early in the month in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

In an exclusive interview with the Nyamilepedia on Thursday, the Country Representative for the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) led by South Sudan’s former First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon said the former detainees are opportunities who only cares for their survival and not that of the nation.

“Former Detainees are opportunist [s] who only cares for their survival. No agreement between the parties [to meet in Juba] as you inquired,” Ambassador Gatbang Riir, SPLM-IO representative to Sudan told the Nyamilepedia on Thursday.

South Sudan government and opposition groups signed a peace agreement in September 2018 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to end the ongoing conflict which erupted in December 2013 following a flareup of violence at a national convention for the ruling SPLM party.

Kiir, following consultation with opposition groups in Khartoum last month, then formed the committee to handle pre-transitional activities in preparation for the upcoming thirty-six month transitional government of national unity.

The parties to the agreement includes the South Sudan’s Transitional Government of National Unity (TGoNU), Sudan Peoples’ Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO), South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA), the SPLM-FDs and the Other Political Parties (OPPs) working in teh current coalition in Juba.
