Speaking to Nyamilepedia from Khartoum, the SPLM-IO Chapter Coordinator, Daniel Yoahnes Magok confirmed the reports saying Major General  Ayman Mohamed Ibrahim and others have declared their full allegiance to Dr. Machar as the next best alternative in the country.

“Political and military leaders of the Reform and Development Front announced Raja Province, led by the deputy chairman -designate Major General  Ayman Mohamed Ibrahim have declared their full allegiance to SPLM/A-IO leadership under First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny”,Daniel told Nyamilepedia from Sudan.

In their statement of declaration extended to Nyamilepedia, the defecting officials underscored that they have joined the SPLM/A-IO because it is the vanguard of the struggle that will fulfill wishes and hopes of the marginalized communities.

“We have decided to join the SPLM/A-IO because we see that it is the only movement with vision which will liberate the marginalised people of South Sudan and therefore, we have pledged our political and military support on it”, the statement reads.

The SPLM/A-IO under Dr. Riek Machar has been facing many internal crises leading to defection of its top leadership starting with the deputy chairman, Chief of General General, Secretary General and many other senior figures; however, Machar continue to attract a widespread support across the country.

Within the last one month, the SPLM/A-IO has received new officials declaring their allegiances from Barh el Ghazal region through the SPLM/A-IO chapters in Egypt and Sudan leaving doubts if these officials have ever been to front lines.
