September 25th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s former First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhugon who has also been designated once again by the revitalized agreement to be the first vice president urged his arch-rival turned peace partner, President Salva Kiir Mayardiit that we need to prove the world wrong.

Machar was making his remarks during a live talk with the South Sudanese President at the Sudanese Presidential Palace after attending a celebrations a day early to mark the signing of the agreement at the Sudanese Palace.

Machar pointed out that the world leaders and the troika in particular will be sitting back and watch if the South Sudanese leaders can do anything to achieve the much needed peace agreement in South South.

“How do we prove them wrong that we are genuine? Machar asked.

“We want this agreement to work because they will sit back, they will watch what we are doing. If we fail in three months, they will say ‘we told you this thing cannot be implemented,” he added.

For his part, President Salva Kiir expressed his readiness to work with Machar and other opposition groups to achieve a lasting peace in the country.

President Salva Kiir and opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar signed the long-awaited peace agreement early this month in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa to end the five-year old brutal conflict which engulfed the country since December 2013.
