Machar Appoints a New Director For Humanitarian Affairs

Nov 12,  2016(Nyamilepedia) —— South Sudan’s former Vice President, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, the Chairman and commander-in-chief of SPLM/SPLA in Opposition has appointed a new Executive Director for Humanitarian Affairs.

According to an appointment letter extended to Nyamilepedia, Machar has appointed Cde. Yien Thiang Luany as the new Executive Director of Humanitarian Affairs with effect from November 11 2016

“I, Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon, Chairman and Commander-in-Chief of SPLMS/SPLA(IO) hereby appoints Cde Yien Thiang Luany as Executive Director of Humanitarian Affairs with effect from November 11 2016″ Machar states.

Mr. Yien will be replacing Mr. Gatwech Peter Kulang, the former Executive Director, who has now defected and joined Salva Kiir government in Juba.

Among other responsibilities, Yien will be in charge of the Relief Organization for South Sudan (ROSS) which is the humanitarian wing of SPLM/A-IO in areas under control of SPLM/SPLA in Opposition.

Dr. Machar, who went for medical treatment in Khartoum and Johannesburg remains in South Africa but promises that he is ready to return to South Sudan to resuscitate the Peace Agreement and push for a possible full implementation of the agreement.
