July 22nd 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s President, Salva Kiir Mayardiit, accepted the return of prominent opposition leader, Dr. Riek Machar, on the condition that he accepts that the current 32 controversial states are maintained, a government official said.

The revelation comes as Kiir and his peace delegates convenes in the South Sudanese capital Juba on Friday to decide the way forward days after the Sudanese mediation decided to suspend the talks after the South Sudan government requested a time.

“The 32 states are supposed to be out of question because the mediation exchanged the 32 states with Riek Machar’s return. They said if Riek return, then the 32 states will remain, so we do not know what brought the 32 states again,” government official told the Nyamilepedia on the condition of anonymity on Sunday.

The official further said the 2015 ARCISS didn’t provided for the power sharing in the local levels but for the national and some states which he said would have been Unity, Jonglei and Upper Nile which are now comprise of big number of new states.

“The peace in 2015 is clear; the power sharing is at the national and states level and not deep into the local levels like counties, so there is something wrong with the new peace proposal that need to be made right,” the official further added.
