January 8th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan parties to the Joint Defense Board (JDB) are currently meeting in Juba to discuss the number of assembly and cantonment sites across the country, the army spokesman Maj. Gen. Lul Ruai Koang said on Tuesday.
Early, Lul told the Nyamilepedia that the parties to the joint security body have agreed to establish a unified training centre in Morotti in Central Equatoria’s Yei River state to train a unified force of 2600 which will be divided 50/50 between the government and the opposition.
In the same interview with the Nyamilepedia, Lul said the government and the opposition – all of whom are parties to the Joint Defense Board (JDB) – are discussing the number and establishment of assembly and cantonment sites in the country.
“The number of assembly and cantonment areas are under discussion. But because we want to expedite, we have started by training the join force of 2600 meanwhile the number of assembly point is being discussed,” he said.
The army spokesman pointed out that there is need for the establishement of cantonment and assembly point in every state across South Sudan.
“Every region in South Sudan needs to have a cantonment and assembly site,” he added.
