Investigation Committee on Aneet incident to submit final report to President amid continued violence

May 18, 2022 — The Investigation Committee on Incidents of Insecurity in Aneet has announced to submit their final findings to President Salva Kiir Mayardit amid intensifying insecurity in the area.

This comes after Vice President Hussein Abdelbagi Akol, the Chairperson of the Investigation Committee met President Kiir in his office last Friday, May 13th, 2022.

“…His Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic met in his office today (Friday, 13th May 2022), with His Excellency Hussein Abdelbagi Akol, Vice President for Service Delivery Cluster in his capacity as a Chairperson of the Investigation Committee on Twic-Ngok Inter-communal Clashes”,Presidential Press Unit reads.

According to the statement, President Kiir was briefed by the head of Investigation Committee, the Vice President Abdelbagi on the progress made so far during the investigation process.

“.. H.E. the President was updated by the Vice President, on the progress of the investigation committee regarding their facts finding on the inter-communal clashes in Aneet settlement”,the statement added.

“.. The Vice President together with the members of the investigation committee shall submit their final report to H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit next week”, the statement promised.

The Investigation Committee on Incidents of Insecurity in Aneet was formed in March but so far the security situation between Twic and Dinka Ngok remains fragile leaving doubt on whether or not the Committee is performing its duty in good faith.
