Government official killed in Uror road ambush.

November 24, 2021—A senior government official was waylaid and killed near his house by armed gangs in the Wikol area of Uror County, Jonglei State, on Saturday, state officials said.

According to information received by Nyamilepedia, the incident occurred over the weekend around 3:00pm afternoon and the victim, who was identified as Gatjang Bol Kuanen, was ambushed and killed adjacent to his house.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Uror County Commissioner, Tang Chatim, confirmed that the administrator of Wikol Payam,  Hon Gatjang Bol Kuanen, was killed in a mysterious incident on Saturday, November 20th, 2021.

“The incident took place on Saturday at 3:00 pm. The deceased Gatjang Bol Kuanen was killed near his house while on his way back. Until his death, Gatjang was the administrator for Wikol Payam,” Uror County Commissioner, Tang Chatim said.

The top local official claimed that the killing was perpetrated by suspected cattle raiders.

For his part, a county police inspector Lt. Col. Gatbel Machar, revealed that no one was arrested but the attackers were identified as cattle raiders because one of them was killed during a fire exchange with the community of the deceased administrator.

The no particular sub-community wan mentioned at the time of this writing but cattle raid is very popular between communities in Jonglei State.

On Friday, at least two civilians were killed in Anyidi Payam of Bor county and 7 others from the Murle community were killed later in Bor town in what was reported as retaliation to the killing of the two civilians in Anyidi.
