Gen. Peter Dor discharged from hospital after shootout at Bilpam

Juba, South Sudan.

June 10th, 2021 – The senior commander in the South Sudan People’s Defense Force Gen. Peter Dor Maanjur has been discharged from the hospital.

Speaking to the media, Maj. General. Lul Ruai Koang, Spokesperson of the South Sudan People’s Defense Force confirmed that Gen. Manjur returned home after receiving treatment from the military hospital.

“He was discharged yesterday evening. He is in a nice spirit. Like I stated in the press statement, the wounds were not very serious. Therefore, he was immediately discharged,” Koang stated.

The SSPDF general exchanged gunfire with one of his bodyguards on Tuesday morning at Bilpam, a military headquarters in Juba where the duo shot at each other and was admitted to the hospital after sustaining injuries as a result of the incident.

According to the information received by Nyamilepedia, Manjur who worked as Inspector General for South Sudan People’s Defense Force sustained four gunshots in the chest and arms and his bodyguard identified as Gatluak Riek sustained an injury in his abdomen.

The reason for the incident remained unknown so far and the authorities concerned revealed that the investigation process is underway.

Meanwhile, 2nd. Lt. Gatluak Riek who shot his General, is still under treatment at the military hospital.
