August 4, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – Fire has swept through much of Bentiu’s protection of civilians site which is manned by the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) destroying many shops as well as many properties.

Speaking to Nyamilepedia from Rubkona, one internally displaced person said the fire began at 1:00 PM and remained on for around 1:30 destroying many shops and wounding three people.

“The fire started this afternoon at 1 PM. Many shops and million-worth goods have been destroyed by the fire. Three people have been injured by the fire but there are no deaths among them,” the IDP who identified himself as Kuol said from the Bentiu POC.

The Bentiu POC is one of the IDP camps that usually catch fire. Last year, fire swept through the many tents in the camp killing a child.
