September 2nd 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – Detained SPLA officer who has been under detention in South Sudan’s capital Hubs since June this year has not been yet charged in a military court,  several sources told the Nyamilepedia.

General Buay Rolnyang was arrested in late May 2018 by militia led by Matthew Puljang allied to the South Sudan government after allegedly accused of defecting to the opposition groups.

He was arrested and then sent to Juba the following day but has remained since then without being charged. Family members in June told the Nyamilepedia that they were being denied meeting him.

Speaking to the Nyamilepedia on Sunday,  reliable sources told the Nyamilepedia that the detained officer has not yet been charged and may not be taken to court in the near future.

“Gen. Buay is not yet charged. He is not charged with a particular crime in the court although he is accused of trying to defect to the rebels in May. So I don’t think he would be taken to court in the near future,” the source told the Nyamilepedia on the condition of anonymity.
