November 14th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) has announced this week that it will adhere to the implementation of the United Nations Sanctions imposed on South Sudan as well as the arms embargo.

According to 7thSpace news portal, the regulations announced by the Government to implement the arms embargo imposed by the United Nations Security Council against South Sudan, will prohibit nationals of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) against supplying weapons of mass destruction to South Sudan.

“The Regulation implements sanctions against South Sudan imposed by United Nations Security Council Resolution 2428,” the Spokesperson for the HKSAR said last Friday.

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) explained that the United Nations Security Council’s sanctions implemented under these Regulations include the following four measures: Prohibition against the supply, sale, transfer or carriage of arms or related materiel to South Sudan, Prohibition against the provision of assistance or training related to military activities, or to the provision, maintenance or use of any arms or related materiel, to persons in South Sudan, Prohibition against making available to, or for the benefit of, certain persons or entities any funds or other financial assets or economic resources, or dealing with funds or other financial assets or economic resources belonging to, or owned or controlled by, certain persons or entities and prohibition against the entry into or transit through the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region by certain persons.

South Sudan has descended into a bloody civil war in December 2013 following a flare-up of violence during a national convention for the ruling SPLM party in the capital Juba igniting clashes in the Presidential Guards leading to a civil war.

On July 13th this year, the United Nations Security Council narrowly adopted a resolution, imposing an arms embargo on South Sudan and targeted some individuals in the Government as well as the opposition.
