June 28, 2015(Nyamilepedia) — Latest reports from Malakal, the capital city of the oil-rich Upper Nile state, confirmed that the town has been fully recaptured by the anti-government forces under the command of Maj. Gen. Johnson Olony, who recently denounced Salva Kiir leadership.

According to James Gatdet Dak, the spokesman of the SPLM/SPLA [IO] chairman, the SPLM/SPLA-IO and SPLA-Aguelek forces captured Malakal at 10pm, local time, last night.

“Upper Nile state’s capital, Malakal, is under our full control. It was captured at 10pm on Saturday. A joint force of SPLM/SPLA and Aguelek under the overall command of Major General Johnson Olony took control of the town.” Gatdet said.

Gatdet further reiterates that their forces are pursuing the government troops towards Akoka, north of Malakal town.

“Government forces are being pursued towards Akoka, north of Malakal, in a mob up operation.” he said.

According to Peter Mabut, a resident of Malakal, who has spent nearly two years in the UN camp in the town, the IDPs have flocked the streets of Malakal after the rebels regained control of the town.

“We are all here, we are outside, we are free” Mabut shouted to our correspondent in Malakal.

A few other residents report that many IDPs, mostly from the two major tribes in the state, the Nuer and the Shilluck, have come out to check on their destroyed properties, and others in search of food and safety.

“Yes, we have come out to look after ourselves and plant crops. We do not get these chance very often. The government army kill every member of Shilluck and Nuer whenever they come out. Now this is our turn to go home and start our lives” Said Mary Nyakan, who sheltered at UNMISS since January 2014.

In other reports, fighting escalated to Melut in the far north towards Paloch Oil fields.

According to Ganum Thiwat, a resident of Melut town, fighting broke out at Melut this afternoon and it is still ongoing.

The spokesman of SPLM chairman explains that the resumption of fighting was ingitted by the government troops after attacking their position in areas around Malakal.

“This is in self-defence against renewed attacks on our forces since Monday at Canal and other locations near Malakal. Government has been on offensive in violation of the cessation of hostilities agreement.” James Gatdet Dak reports.

The strategic towns of Malakal, Bentiu and Bor have exchanged hands many times in the current conflict.

The word captured and tactical withdrawal are enough. Rebels should fight to change the regimes not just capturing and later on withdrawal

The Terrorist Rebels of Fool Riek will be flushed out within hours from Malakal, I saw new fighter jets and Migs hovering Juba ready to back the ground forces with air power and destroy the only two remaining war ships Olony is bragging of then we see who will be defeated, General Gai Yoach has already defected from the Doomed rebellion to join the people’s government with over 3,000 strong forces from Unity state and this morning 10 former members of the SPLM-In opposition have arrived in Juba today after splitting from the leadership. They were headed by Lieutenant-General James Gai. The team was received by the defense Minister, Kuol Manyang and other high profile officials from the national government this morning from the Airport. These so called rebels will all come back one by one and finally Riek will run to Holland where his family and Children are staying, Riek Practically has nationalize himself a European.
