July 29th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – Peace talks in the Sudanese capital Khartoum have threatened to divide the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) after some members who are signatories to the Alliance charter decided to walk out of talks today.

On Thursday, the South Sudan Opposition Alliance decided to suspend the South Sudan United Movement under the leadership of Gen. Peter Gatdet Yak after it decided to sign a peace deal with the government and the SPLM-IO which was rejected by fellow members of the Alliance.

Sources have told the Nyamilepedia from the Sudanese capital Khartoum that some leaders of the alliance walked out of the talks hall as the mediation decided to turn their demands down.

The source said delegates of the PDM, NAS and SSLM/A walked out in protest but some groups including the one led by the interim leader of the alliance decided to stay in the hall possibly to initialize the agreement.

“Members of the delegations representing the PDM, NAS and the South Sudan Liberation Movement or SSLM/A have left the hall today but some are here including the one led by the leader of the Alliance.

The Source said groups led by the interim leader Changson Lew and Dr. Lam Akol Ajawin among others are still in the hall and they will possibly sign the preliminary peace agreement.
