BREAKING: Kiir dismiss Tonj state governor, appoints successor

January 21st 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President, Salva Kiir Mayardiit has dismissed Anthony Bol Madut as governor of Tonj state.

The order read out on the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corporations (SSBC) also dismissed Western Lakes State governor Matur Chut.

Kiir then appointed Mathiang Magordit in a separate to succeed Anthony Bol Madut as the new Tonj state governor. He also appointed John Deng Mamer as the new governor of Western Lakes.

Although no reason has been mentioned,  there has been a cross border cattle rustling between Tonj and Northern Liech states that has killed over hundred people in recent days.

There has also been inter-communal conflict over cattle rustling between Western Lakes,  Eastern Lakes and Southern Liech states.
