5 losses lives in Tonj North County road car accident.

January 26, 2022—Authorities in Tonj North county reported that at least five people including the driver of a pickup died and three others sustained severe injuries when the pickup overturned in Tonj North’s Wunagep village of Warrap State on Monday.

Speaking to media, Mr. Kuol Akoon Kuol, Tonj North County commissioner said the driver lost control of the vehicle while driving with speed and such error led to a fatal accident.

“The accident killed five passengers including the driver at Wunagep and three people were injured. The injured were returned to Wau Hospital,” commissioner Kuol told media.

He said the car left from Wau carrying passengers to Lou Ariik area, Alebek market but unfortunately got into an accident on the road.

According to top local official, those who died were all adults.

On his part, Colonel James Wol Tong, Warrap State Traffic Police Deputy Director, who doubles also as the director of accidents, said the incident happened at midday on Monday due to what he believe was over speeding from the driver.

“The car accident happened yesterday (Monday) in Tonj North County. We have just received information from our officer that five people have died including the driver who was overspeeding at 120 kilometers per hour and he lost control,” Col. Wol explained.

He said the traffic police officers will collect the car from the scene of the accident, adding that further investigations will be carried out as soon as possible.
