December 27th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan parties to the revitalized peace agreement have sent a 10-men team to transport forces to training centers where they will undergo the reunification process, a statement issued by the JMCC said.

Under the revitalized peace agreement signed last year by the government and opposition groups, rival forces are required to assemble, canton and trained together in preparation for reunification to form one national army.

“This morning the 23/12/2019, at about 8:00AM, the leadership of JMCC under the Chair of Lt. Gen. Charles Madut Akol officially dispatched JMCC teams to cantonment sites, barracks and State HQs,” Lam Paul Gabriel, the SPLA-IO deputy spokesman said in the statement on behalf of the JMCC.

Lam said the team was tasked to “move registered forces from cantonment sites, barracks and states HQs to the training centers where they will undergo medical screening and unified training and provide emergency food to cantonment sites not accessible by road (as well) as to register forces that missed out during the initial registration process.”

“This mission is meant to last for seven days only. The leadership of JMCC requests all forces to re-assemble at the cantonment sites and barracks for easy pick up. The JMCC therefore, calls upon the NPTC to urgently provide food supplies to the remaining cantonment sites to speed up this process of movement of forces.”
